Banana-Nut Oatmeal

Author: Canadian Living

As a girl who needs a filling breakfast, oatmeal is my most common breakfast meal. After eating apple cinnamon oatmeal day in and day out, I was getting a little bored. We had a banana left on the counter and some walnuts in a jar.. it just went from there, and it was a hit! Not only is it grat tasting, it's also easy and quick to make.

Ingredients

Method

Mix oats generously with cinnamon and apple pie spice (I like to leave a pre-mixed sealed container on the counter to save time).

Before cooking oats, have banana sliced up on counter.

Bring water to a boil, add oats with cinnamon and apple pie spice, and walnuts. Reduce heat to a simmer (follow directions on bag of oats).

Add banana and let cook for directed time on bag of oats, or about 5 minutes.

While cooking, add a dash of salt and pinch of dried mint, and more spices if desired for flavour.

When done cooking, transfer to bowl and sprinkle with brown sugar, and drizzle with maple syrup.
