MOSTACCIOLI Baking time: 30 minutes for basic recipe Baking temperature: 350' F (or 325 F in a convection oven) Serves: 4 - 6 people This recipe can be made in large quantity and was always a favorite at Scout banquets and family celebrations. -Cook the meat, drain off fat and set aside. -Saute green pepper, garlic and onion in oil until tender. -Add cooked, drained meat. -Add fresh or dried Summer Savory -Stir in tomatoes, paste, water, salt & pepper. -Simmer until flavours are well blended -about 10 minutes. -Cook pasta according to package directions El-Dante' (a bit firm) -Drain well -Mix pasta and sauce together. In a 2 quart casserole: -Put half the sauce & noodle mixture into the casserole. -Top with the cheeses. -Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on each layer - for added flavour. -Add bay leaves and repeat the layers. -Top with cheeses & cover. -Bake at 350'F for 30 minutes (325?F Convection) -Remove lid and brown the cheeses for 5-10 minutes. -Rest for 5 minutes -Serve with a green side salad. -serves 4-6 Notes: i) Ground turkey works well. ii) Hot Italian Sausage meat is a wonderful addition to this pasta casserole. iii) Mozzarella lacks flavour for this dish but will do in a pinch or in combination with other cheeses iv) Bay leaf on your plate brings good luck
