MethodIn large heatproof bowl, whisk together sugar, water, egg whites, cream of tartar and salt.
Set bowl over saucepan of simmering water; beat constantly until mixture holds stiff peaks, 5 to 7 minutes.
Remove bowl from saucepan. Beat until frosting is cooled, 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in vanilla.
