This Is The Healthiest Vegetable in the World, According to Science
This small leafy green superfood outshines all other fruits and vegetables in terms of nutritional density.
According to a study conducted by William Paterson University in New Jersey, watercress tops the list of healthiest fruits and vegetables.
To establish this ranking, researchers analyzed 41 foods based on their content of essential nutrients: fibre, vitamins, minerals, etc. Watercress received a perfect score for nutrient density, meaning it offers maximum nutrients for minimum calories. This verdict was confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States, which calls this leafy vegetable the "healthiest food in the world."
A nutritional powerhouse
Often relegated to the background in our recipes, watercress nevertheless deserves a special place in our diet. A 100g serving is enough to cover all our daily needs for nutrients of all kinds, such as potassium, fibre, protein, calcium, iron, as well as vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, E, K, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folate and zinc.
