The top 5 fitness trends for 2024

It’s no secret that exercising is good for the body and for the mind.

But what will get people moving in 2024? Julie Le Gruiec, Director of Training at Éconofitness, gives us her predictions.

Here are 5 fitness trends to try in 2024.

1. Strength training

We've noticed it over the last few years, but now it's confirmed: bodybuilding is back. The benefits of building muscle mass are numerous: better posture, better mobility, healthier bones. Not only does it make the body stronger in the short term, but the positive effects will also last as you get older. A workout program that includes strength training and cardiovascular exercise is a great way to get, and stay, in shape.

2. Virtual training

We saw this trend emerge during the pandemic, but it seems that virtual training has become a must for many people. Whether it's YouTube videos, apps or platforms like Zoom, people can exercise wherever and whenever they want.

3. Group classes

Always at the top of the trend list, the popularity of group classes remains strong. Exercising with a group of people, whether it’s a large class or a small group of friends, keeps you motivated. Plus, it’s a fun way to connect with people!

4. The importance of recovery

Taking the time to recover from a training session is essential. Your exercise routine needs to include not only rest periods between exercises but also recovery days. Overtraining can be just as damaging as a sedentary lifestyle! So listen to your body and take care of it.

5. Working out for overall health

In 2024, we're moving for pleasure! Long gone is the mentality that you have to work out to "deserve" a meal or dessert, or that you "have to suffer to look good." Training isn't just about changing weight management, it's about physical and mental well-being. Taking care of our bodies needs to bring us joy to be sustainable, so avoid putting too much pressure on yourself!
