Midway through their family health makeover, Despina, George, Stefi and Ria Morfidis continue to make great progress. Here are some of their recent milestones.
The family now posts weekly menu plans on the fridge.
Each person picks dinner for one night of the week and together they decide what's for dinner the rest of the week, ensuring everyone likes and enjoys dinner, explains Ria. Despina does the grocery shopping for meals ahead of time, usually on the weekend, so it's one less thing to worry about during the week. And the first person home can help start preparations. This has had a healthy impact on what the family eats for dinner because there are no longer rushed, last-minute decisions.
George is loving the effects of strength training.
The milestone moment came when he helped a friend prepare to open a new coffee shop. He moved equipment, counters and boxes, and there were no problems lifting, pushing or pulling -- not during and not after.
Fitness is becoming a priority in the family.
For example, one night Ria and Stefi offered to clean up after dinner so Despina could go for a walk. The family has also discovered new group fitness classes to take together at GoodLife, including skip circuit and spinning classes.
