The 5 best frozen chicken fillets according to a nutritionist

Chicken fillets, found in the frozen food section of grocery shops, are a very popular, quick and delicious option.

But how can you make the right choice for your health and that of your children? Vanessa Daigle, nutritionist, has compared the 5 "best options" available to you.

1. Chicken breast fillets - La Cage

This popular brand offers chicken fillets that are rich in protein and fat. They contain a reasonable amount of sodium and are free from palm oil.

2. Chicken strips - Blue Menu

This product is probably the least salty and the least fatty. On the other hand, it's important to know that Menu Bleu chicken strips contain palm oil and less protein, two things you shouldn't ignore when reading the labels.

3. Chick’N Tenders - Benny&Co

This frozen option is high in protein and low in calories. However, as well as being double coated in batter and breadcrumbs, the high fat content of these chicken fillets could make you jump.

4. Chicken fillets - St-Hubert

This slightly saltier option has a higher fat content than the previous brands. However, St-Hubert strips have more protein and contain no soy protein.

5. Chicken fillets - Flamingo

These fillets are similar to those offered by St-Hubert, but contain less sodium and less protein per portion.

Obviously, for a healthier option, it's best to prioritize a diet made up mainly of unprocessed foods. However, occasionally it's good to indulge, especially as the nutritional value of unprocessed chicken breasts will often be altered by the addition of various ingredients and seasonings!
