Easy and inexpensive way to update a basic armchair
You just need a permanent marker to give a basic armchair a chic makeover.
A crisp, white cotton slipcovered armchair is a cottage staple. It's also the perfect candidate for a remarkably easy upmarket makeover.
MATERIALS
- Armchair slipcover with piping
- Fine-tipped permanent fabric marker in the colour of your choice
HOW TO
Step 1: Pinch the slipcover's piped edge (to pull it away from the surface upholstery)
Step 2: Use a fine-tipped, permanent fabric marker (available at most craft stores) in a punchy hue to colour the piping.
Step 3: To prevent the colour from bleeding, plan for three light applications and allow the piping to dry completely between each.
You'll get the high-end look of contrast piping for a fraction of the cost. Better yet, your new one-of-a-kind slipcover remains machine-washable!
