7 Trending Crafts To Try This Summer
Slow down this summer with a sunny, colourful craft.
If you’re anything like us, your summers are so jam-packed that they blur by in the blink of an eye. Take some time to slow down this season with a fun craft.
From playful paintings to vibrant suncatchers, these ideas are perfect for get-togethers with family and friends or for a relaxing afternoon of enjoying your own company.

Take your wine night up a notch with this easy-peasy idea. Stock up on an assortment of paints (ideally acrylic enamel paint or another glass-friendly option), cute glasses, and paint brushes. Decorate your glass with fruit, flowers, or whatever fun design you desire.
2. Lemon-stamped tea towel

This playful craft will have your summer party guests begging to know where you got your linens from! Simply cut a lemon in half (we suggest squeezing out some of the juice), dip it into your favourite shade of fabric paint mixed with fabric medium, and stamp the natural design onto a fresh cotton towel.
You can also use oranges, limes, or even the rim of a funky shaped glass to create the pattern of your kitchen dreams.
3. Tote decorating

Totes are a must-have for schlepping your summer goods around. Take yours to extra stylish heights by painting or sewing colourful beaded designs onto it. Go for a fabric-friendly paint, such as acrylic, for a long-lasting design.
4. Diamond painting

Painting, but make it bedazzled. Use a combination of stick-on gems and paint to create shimmering designs.
5. Seashell candles

If you have a window sill or box in your home loaded with forgotten seashells from trips past, you certainly aren’t alone. Give them a second life by transforming them into coastal-style candles straight out of a beach house.
First, light tea lights and allow them to fully melt down. Pour the wax into your shells, place the wick from your tea light in the centre, and let them set. Add in fire-safe beads or decorations to the wax for extra mermaid flair.
6. Bioplastic suncatcher

This inexpensive craft looks like it comes straight from an arts market. The bioplastic base is made of water, cornstarch, white vinegar, and gelatin powder and amped up by food colouring, glitter, and flower petals. Let your suncatchers sit for one to two days, then hang them in a sunny window for a vibrant decoration.
7. Air dry clay

Air dry clay is the easiest way to make pottery from your own home. Found at your local craft store, this clay can be shaped into coasters, cups, jewelry trays, and more! Seal it with liquid epoxy resin to keep it shiny and protected.
