A Knit-Related Field Trip

Hi friends, I had a bit of an adventure last night – after work, Tina (CL managing editor), Daniela (CL web editor) and I ventured down to the Purple Purl for a couple of hours of knitting and chatting. There, we met up with Glenna; Daniela's sister Andrea joined us later. Just in case the good company and yarn wasn't enough, we also enjoyed iced lattes and some yummy treats! one But this was no ordinary stitch'n'bitch: these lovely ladies were doing me a great service by test-knitting a pattern that Glenna developed for an upcoming issue of the magazine. (It's hard to sit at a desk and edit a knitting pattern without needles in my hands; this seemed like a good solution.) I thought I'd share a few photos of the night – but you'll have to pick up an issue (available soon, I'll let you know when) to find out exactly what the pattern is! hmm Daniela (left) very bravely tackled a project on double-pointed needles as her second project ever! Here, Glenna's giving her a couple of pointers... andrea-out-of-focus In this shockingly out-of-focus shot (I'm sorry!), Andrea is telling us about how to knit in the round, magic loop–style. more-tips Here, Tina (left) gets some tips from Glenna. It sure came in handy to have the designer at the table to answer questions. (Also note the plate of yummy S'mores Bars in the centre of the table. Mmmm.) good-times-at-the-table It looks like they were hard at work, but we were having lots of fun, too. love-this-so-much Then again, for knitters, it's hard to imagine not having fun in a place that looks like this! more-miko Co-owner Miko stopped by our table to show us a selection from her collection of "special" knitting books. I think you need a close-up of that sweater.

Of course, if that's not your style, there are plenty of other books to choose from.

Thanks so much to everyone who came, knitted, chatted (and helped me do my job). I appreciate your efforts! With any luck, we'll be able to reprise this party for a little fashion show when everyone is finished their knitting. Perhaps to coincide with the release of the issue? I'll work on it.

And, last but definitely not least, a big thank you to Miko and Jennifer for helping me figure out how the event should take place and for welcoming us to the Purple Purl. It was great! (Though I might now have a small S'Mores bar addiction....)

Have a great weekend, folks, and don't forget that you've got until midnight on Sunday to enter this week's giveaway. See you soon!
