Crochet pattern: Pretty wrist warmers

Make up some pretty crocheted cuffs to give your wardrobe a boost of colour. They're the perfect handmade accesory to keep your hands warm, and would also make a great gift for friends and family. Find the free crochet pattern below

You need:
• 2 balls Patons Kroy Socks (50 g/1.75 oz; 152 m/166 yd each) in Camelot Colours
• Size 3.25 mm (U.S. D or 3) crochet hook, or size needed to obtain tension

Size:
One size fits most adult women.

Tension:
22 hdc and 12 rows = 10 cm
(4 inches)

To save time, take time to check tension.

approx = approximately
beg = beginning
ch = chain(s)
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
rep = repeat
rnd(s) = round(s)
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
sp = space
st(s) = stitch(es)

To make:
Right mitten

**Cuff
Ch 36. Join with sl st to first ch to form ring, being careful not to twist.

1st rnd:
1 sc in each ch around. Join with sl st to first sc. 36 sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Miss next 2 sc. (3 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) in next sc. Miss next 2 sc. *1 dc in next sc. Miss next 2 sc. (3 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) in next sc. Miss next 2 sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3.
3rd and 4th rnds: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Miss next 3 dc. (3 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp. Miss next 3 dc. *1 dc in next dc. Miss next 3 dc. (3 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp. Miss next 3 dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3.
5th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each of next 3 dc. (2 sc. Ch 3. sl st in first ch – picot made. 2 sc) in next ch-3 sp. 1 sc in each of next 3 dc. *1 sc in each of next 4 dc. (2 sc. Picot. 2 sc) in next ch-3 sp. 1 sc in each of next 3 dc. Rep from *around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Body of mitten
Note: Ch 2 at beg of rnds does not count as hdc.

Working into opposite side of foundation ch, join yarn with sl st to first ch of Cuff.
1st rnd: Ch 2 (does not count as hdc). 1 hdc in each ch around. Join with sl st to first hdc. 36 hdc.
2nd rnd: Ch 2 (does not count as hdc). 1 hdc in each hdc around. Join with sl st to first hdc. Rep 2nd rnd until work from Cuff measures 2.5 cm (1 inch).**

Thumb gusset
1st rnd:
Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 5 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of last 2 hdc. Join with sl st to first hdc. 38 hdc.
2nd rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 7 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of last 2 hdc. Join with sl st to first hdc. 40 hdc.
3rd rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 9 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 5 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of last 2 hdc. Join with sl st to first hdc. 42 hdc.
4th rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 11 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 7 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of last 2 hdc. Join with sl st to first hdc. 44 hdc.
5th rnd:

6th rnd:

7th rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 17 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 13 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of last 2 hdc. Join with sl st to first hdc. 50 hdc.
8th rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 18 hdc. Miss next 15 hdc (thumb opening). Ch 1. 1 hdc in each of last 3 hdc. Join with sl st to first hdc. 35 hdc.
9th rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc and ch around. Join with sl st to first hdc. 36 hdc.
***10th rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc around. Join with sl st to first hdc.
Rep 10th rnd until work from thumb opening measures 5 cm (2 inches). Fasten off.


Thumb
Join yarn with sl st to first missed hdc of thumb opening.
1st rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each of next 15 hdc. 1 hdc in opposite side of next ch. Join with sl st to first hdc. 16 hdc.
2nd rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc around. Join with sl st to first hdc. Rep 2nd rnd until Thumb measures 2.5 cm (1 inch).
Fasten off.***
