Great idea: lemonade stand birthday party

Isn't this just the cutest thing you've ever seen? This is an email that I received from blog reader (and friend of my mum!) Cathy K., the proud grandmother of that little cutie – Madelyn, who just turned three. Madelyn celebrated with a yellow-themed birthday party, and received that awesome lemonade stand as a gift – co-created by her dad, Mike, and grandmother, Cathy. Sarah, her mom, was the one who found the inspiration. Cathy tells us more: "Sarah found the picture of a lemonade stand on Pinterest (it came from the site lilluna.com).  She delegated the project to her husband and mother. Mike made his own version of the stand. I made the decorations using my Cricut cutting machine, but the shapes are simple to do free-hand or with those old teacher cutouts from years past. We decided to do the letters separately, so they can be changed to suit Miss Madelyn's latest whim (maybe a cupcake stand tomorrow).  The flag banner is two sided and can be turned around so that her name is not showing. Madelyn and her cousins hope to sell lemonade in September, when her Grandpa does the The Big Move Cancer Ride, with proceeds to benefit cancer research. It was a fun project and a real hit at her birthday party. We also made pinwheels to decorate the backyard planters (of course from Canadian Living's craft book) and the kids loved picking one to take home." Thanks for sharing your crafting success, Cathy – it's delightful! What a lucky little girl. Have you had a crafting success this summer? We'd love to hear about it. Leave a comment and tell us about your creation – maybe we'll feature you on the blog, too!
