Where to Celebrate The Lunar New Year in Canada?

VANCOUVER

Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden

January 21st and 22nd - 11AM to 6PM
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden will hold two days of celebrations, including a Lion Dance, Guzheng (a Chinese plucked zither; a musical instrument made of a flat wooden sound box with numerous strings stretched across), tea ceremonies, calligraphy, traditional foods, and more.

Attendees will also see the premiere of the brand new Billion Buns Exhibition by Chairman Ting.

 

LunarFest and The Lantern City

This year's Lunar Fest festivities will be held at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énk Square at the Vancouver Art Gallery and at Ocean Art Works on Granville Island, along with additional celebrations at Jack Poole Plaza, West End Robson and the Orpheum.

Chinese New Year Show

This event will be a chance to enjoy poetic singing, dancing, and other cultural presentations. The background magnificence of the mountain and landscape scenes will show the perfect miracle of nature in a unique and full artistic expression. A new style Chinese ballet dancing, classical and folk dancing, martial arts, lion dancing, singing, folk music and more will be showcased to produce a complete magical experience.

 

TORONTO

Chinese New Year Festival

Hosted by the Chinatown BIA, the weekend of the Lunar New Year will be jam-packed with activities at both Chinatown Centre and Dragon City Mall. Cultural festivities include lion dances, Chinese folk dancing, zodiac fortune telling, Chinese calligraphy workshops, and much more.

 

CALGARY

Chinese New Year Festival

January 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd | 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre

The event features dragon & lion dance, multicultural performances, an art exhibition, food stalls, lucky draw, games, and a marketplace for public enjoyment.
