Incredible Photos, Incredible Women

The Journeys of Women Everywhere: Worldly, wonderful A picture is worth a thousand words – of joy, passion, determination and so much more.
Susan Sontag wrote: “All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.”
Journeywoman world-traveller and blogger Evelyn Hannon has 'participated' in the lives of thousands of women all over the globe throughout her many years of travel. To mark International Women's Day Evelyn has created an artful tapestry of photographs submitted by a variety of photographers (I'm fortunate to be one of them), each capturing a moment in the lives of girls and women who stood still for the camera of a stranger. Evelyn calls it "A Collection of Wonderful Women Round the World." It's fitting. Here's a few to look at, but you'll want to go to the Journeywoman web site to view all of them. Thanks to Evelyn for putting this together, thanks to the photographers who've contributed their work, and thanks to the women who allowed a bevy of strangers to 'participate,' however briefly, in their lives. Contributing photographers include Mariellen Ward of BreatheDreamGo, Bethany Davies of FlashPacker Family and Jodi Ettenberg of LegalNomads, among others. Happy Women's Day! Enjoy the photographs.
