Prince William goes back to school, would you?

Today marked Prince William's first day back at school. The Prince arrived at Cambridge University by train and looked quite dapper in a navy blue suit as he began the first week of his 10-week course. The program was designed specifically for William and will teach him about agricultural management. It's hard to compare ourselves to William—most of us aren't future kings. But the Duke of Cambridge is going through a career change, something many of us can relate to. Not long after Prince George's birth, William announced he would be ending his military career in the Royal Air Force, but would not yet be taking on a role as a  full-time royal. So William had to figure out what he would do next, which is quite a scary reality to face. Many adults go back to school after a successful career to pursue a new career or to update their skills. But it can be scary going back to the life of exams and essays. It can be especially hard to manage when you have a family—kids don't make it easy to have quiet time to study. The Duke will have to face this problem since Prince George is only six months old and apparently a screamer. I wonder how Kate reacted to her husband going back to school? I have a feeling she was supportive of William, but daunted by the thought of taking on most of the child-rearing and household responsibilities—yes I know she's royal and has servants, but it's still scary to realize your partner won't be around as much to support you. Now many of the questions adults face when considering going back to school aren't really a concern for Wills. He can definitely afford to pay for the courses—his course is being paid for privately, not by the tax payers dollars. And there's also the worry that there won't be any job prospects once you graduate, another problem William doesn't have. Plus, there's the fact that going back to school as an adult isn't as fun as when you did it fresh out of high school. There are no late night parties in residence. Or living off of mac and cheese because that's all you know how to make. Sadly being an adult at school means living at home with your kids and knowing that chips don't count as a food group. Prince William will actually have a room at Cambridge if he needs it, but he's expected to make the commute to campus everyday from his home with Kate and George at Kensington Palace. I have to say I don't think I would every go back to school. I've had enough late night cramming sessions to last me a lifetime. I love learning, I just don't enjoy the whole essays and exams aspect. So I'm quite content with another thirty years of work with no prospect of more schooling. But enjoy your course William, I hope you're ready for some long nights with your textbooks.
