5 fun activities to do when the mercury drops

It's the most colourful time of the year! Check out our list of 5 fun activities you can do alone, or with your loved ones, when fall finally settles in.

The sun sets earlier, the nights get colder, and kids are going back to school; in short, fall is finally here. Whether you’re been waiting for this season since last Halloween, or you’ve been dreading the drop of the mercury in your thermometer, there are plenty of ways to enjoy this cozy weather and make the most out of the most colourful time of the year!

Here are 5 fun activities you can do, alone or with friends and family, in the fall:

Canada is known to have some of the most beautiful fall seasons in the world! It gets illuminated by the bright reds and fiery oranges of the turning leaves. Get together as a group of friends or with your family, pack up your hiking shoes, a small picnic, and drive out (or bike) to enjoy some of the best sceneries of the year.

2. Have a movie marathon

Sometimes a rainy day calls for a rainy day activity. Perfect time for a movie marathon! Choose a theme, or a franchise, prepare some popcorn, and cozy up on your couch with your friends or family. To shake things up, you can try out a fun popcorn recipe, like this sweet one, or this savoury one.

3. Visit an orchard

Apple picking is a good old classic fall activity, but nonetheless the perfect way to spend time outdoors (and take fun pictures!). You can check out our list of recipes if you run out of ideas of what to do with your harvest.

4. Learn how to knit

Romanticize your life by knitting yourself and your loved ones a fun gift. While it may take some patience at first, knitting is a great way to keep your hands busy and can also prove to be quite meditative! For inspiration, you can check out our list of fun knitting patterns to start out.

5. Go to a farmers’ market

While it may seem like a summer activity, rest assured that you can still get your hands on a delicious harvest in the fall! Meet up for a coffee with a friend and head over to your nearest farmers’s market to stock up on some winter squashes and Brussel sprouts for your next dinner party.
