4 Major Trends for Weddings in 2022

Many wedding plans have had to be modified or postponed in the last few years, pushing us to be creative and dream of new original trends.

Indeed, the pandemic has allowed the wedding industry to change, making room for smaller weddings and solutions never seen before. There is also a greater social consciousness and a desire to break with convention. In the coming years, more and more couples will be creating their own traditions instead of adopting those of the past, and we love it!

If you're planning a wedding for this year or the next, get inspired by these dreamy trends.

4 wedding trends that will stand out in 2022:

Colour

Neutral and muted palettes are out! People want more and more colour in their decorations, and this translates into all facets of wedding planning. Think about adding a wall of colourful tapestry or mixing bright hues in accessories and decorations.

This trend even affects flowers, as we are likely to see more colourful and massive floral arrangements. Ceiling hanging flowers are another trend that stands out.

Environmental Awareness

The environment is important to all of us, and there is no denying that a wedding can create a lot of waste. To counteract this, there are several strategies that can easily be adopted. For example, you could opt for a local and seasonal menu, or skip the centerpieces that will go into the garbage after the ceremony.

More and more people are opting for digital invitations for this reason, as well as an online gift registry. There are also suggestions to choose recycled decorations and biodegradable confetti, store for your second hand dress, and the list goes on.

Marriages Abroad Or Inspired By A Destination

Although there are still some travel restrictions in place, the desire to get away from it all is very present after two years at home. For this reason, many opt for a smaller wedding in a sunny destination.

For those who prefer not to fly, they can choose a dreamy destination for their wedding theme. For the same reasons, many choose a weekend wedding, even if it is in Canada!

The Rejection Of Traditions

The wedding industry is full of age-old traditions. In 2022, we're leaving them behind! This could mean forgetting about customs like cutting the cake, throwing the bouquet or reading your vows in front of everyone.

We also see this trend in the rise of non-traditional wedding dresses, such as coloured dresses, original cuts or the option to wear pants instead! Gender roles are also being set aside. We could for example see the mother accompany her daughter to the altar, or mix the boys and bridesmaids. Anything goes!
