Kaillie Humphries wasn't sure how she'd get to the Olympics, but she knew she would.

Kaillie grew up ski racing in Calgary, then switched sports at the age of 16 when she realized she wasn't progressing on the slopes. "I thought bobsleigh would be something I would be good at," she says.

She was right. Kaillie made the national team when she was 18—an occasion she marked with her first tattoo. Ever since, tattoos have been her trademark. On her right arm, she has portraits of her mom and dad, and on her left leg, a tribute to her grandparents. Not surprisingly, she also has a tattoo of her first Olympic medal, won at the Vancouver Games. (She was the first woman to win Olympic gold for Canada in bobsleigh.)

When she's not travelling to World Cup races or training, Humphries spends time on her motorcycle. "I enjoy fast things," she says, smiling.
