RV Canada: The top 4 destinations for your winter RV holiday

Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario
Nestled in the heart of central Ontario, Algonquin Provincial Park offers a wide range of activities in the colder months, including skiing and snowshoeing. Dog sledding is also available at the park, through Outward Bound or Chocpaw Expeditions. Other things to see and do include camping out in a yurt (available for rent at the Mew Lake campground) and grabbing a bite at the café in the visitor centre, which is open on winter weekends.

Banff National Park, Alberta
Canada's oldest national park features magnificent mountains, glaciers and waterfalls. Located just an hour and a half west of Calgary at the B.C. border, Banff offers plenty of activities for those looking for cold-weather fun. Downhill skiing and snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ice-skating, ice diving, snowshoeing and waterfall ice climbing are just some of the things to do. RVers can park and stay at the Tunnel Mountain Village II campground, which offers 188 electrical-only sites available year-round. Those looking for dining options should check out dininginbanff.com for information on restaurants in the area.

Halcyon Hot Springs, British Columbia
If you're looking to add some heat to your chilly adventure, drive over to Halcyon Hot Springs in B.C. The famous natural hot springs and spa offers massages, clay facials and other treatments. Located about four hours east of Kamloops, the mountains surrounding Halcyon offer plenty of cold-weather activities, including guided snowmobile tours, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The spa's Kingfisher Restaurant and Lounge features gourmet dining and offers a warm atmosphere with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. RV accommodation is available year-round at the Halcyon Campground, where you'll find sites equipped with 30-amp electrical, water, sewer and television connections.

Mountain Ridge Motel & RV Park, Yukon
Located just minutes from downtown Whitehorse, Mountain Ridge Motel & RV Park offers winter accommodation for 18 RVs with 30-amp power connections. Free wireless Internet is also available on the site. As a winter-lover's paradise, Whitehorse offers a variety of cold weather activities, including skiing, snowshoeing, ice climbing, ice fishing and dog sledding. And, of course, no trip to the Yukon would be complete without experiencing the breathtaking northern lights. Drive 10 minutes out of Whitehorse for a chance to see this winter wonder. Come in from the cold with a stop at Sam 'n Andy's restaurant, which features Tex-Mex, halibut and vegetarian meals.
