Potato and Spring Vegetable Gratin

Potato and Spring Vegetable Gratin

This flavourful and elegant side dish is the perfect accompaniment to any roast. Fennel mellows as it cooks, adding just the right amount of aromatic sweetness to the final dish. Assemble the gratin the day before, leaving only the topping and baking to take care of prior to dinner.

Salmon Wellington

Salmon Wellington

May 7, 2009

This recipe was inspired by the traditional Beef Wellington but I was looking for a healthier option. It is a relatively simple recipe that serves elegantly and makes a great impression. I generally serve the salmon with asparagus and a nice leafy green salad with avocado. Leftovers can be easily reheated and I have even served cold slices of the Wellington with a lemon aioli as an appetizer.

Seafood Pie

Saffron adds a subtle accent to this deep-dish pie with its luxurious mix of seafood. Expect raves! You can replace the lobster with 12 oz (375 g) bay scallops; just simmer in cooking liquid until opaque, about 3 minutes.

Rolled Cranberry Turkey Breast With Creamy Gravy

Rolled Cranberry Turkey Breast With Creamy Gravy

Sometimes a whole turkey is just too much for a small group. Celebrate the holiday with this easy all-in-one dinner that includes a lovely traditional stuffing rolled right up in the turkey. It looks beautiful when sliced. Look for a fresh boneless skin-on turkey breast at the butcher's counter.

Sticky Caramel Apple Buns

Sticky Caramel Apple Buns

Ooey, gooey caramel buns give plain old cinnamon rolls a serious run for their money. A bit of whole wheat flour lends a hint of wholesomeness to these otherwise utterly indulgent treats. They are delicious any time and best served warm.

German Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

German Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

A creamy, sweet and nutty filling takes these cakey chocolate cookies to a whole new level. Fun fact: The inspiration for them—German chocolate cake—is actually not German. They get their name from an American chocolate maker named Samuel German.
