Coco Rocha chats beauty secrets and being a new mom
Canadian supermodel, mother and social media master Coco Rocha talks about her beauty secrets, her guilty pleasures and some tips on being a new mom.
On using natural products
"The importance of using natural products didn't really hit me until I was pregnant. Then, I realized the benefit for both myself and my unborn child."
On Burt's Bees new lipstick
"I love makeup, especially a bold lip. I think this is the perfect combination of bold pigment—which can be tough to find in a natural product—and ingredients I trust."
On her favourite dish
"I just love food, and I will try anything. As for a favourite, anything pasta, especially Bolognese; it's my go-to comfort food."
On her book
"The book is a tribute to every painting, every movie, every image that has ever influences my work as a model."
Burt's Bees Lipstick in Juniper Water, $10, burtsbees.ca. Study of Pose: 1,000 Poses by Coco Rocha (Harper Design, 2014).
On how she dresses her daughter, Ioni
"I don't think babies need to be told, "This is what a female should look like, and this is what a male should look like.' Adults wear unisex clothes, so why wouldn't a kid wear black? Ioni wears a lot of black—skinny jeans, leather pants—but usually with some pink accents."
On Snapchat
"Instagram and Twitter are very important—that's where you can brand yourself—but Snapchat is different; it's what Instagram once was. You can't overedit it, it's instant and you don't overthink it."
On her skin-care secrets
"Don't sit under direct sunlight. I still go to the brach, but I'll be under an umbrella, beneath five blankets. It's not sexy at all, but I choose to do that over ruining my skin."
On what she splurges on
"Technology—anything that makes my house smarter. I love [Philips] Hue. You can wirelessly control your lightbulbs from your phone, no matter where you are, and the lights can change colours!"
