These little jade wands sure look pretty, but do these rollers really do anything? We find out.

Celebrities such as Miranda Kerr, Victoria Beckham and Gigi Hadid have all proclaimed their love for complexion enhancing jade rollers on their instagram accounts, but do these cool girl contraptions work? Or is it basically just a prettier, more polished take on the fidget spinner?

What are they?
Face rollers are handheld massaging tools typically made with one or sometimes two-ends rollers, often made out of jade, rose quartz and amethyst. They look like mini paint rollers made for massaging your face. They claim to boost blood circulation, reduce under-eye swelling and help products absorb better into your skin. It’s said that the ritual comes from ancient (and royal) Chinese beauty routines, but this rich backstory often comes from the brands selling these tools. True or not, it certainly sounds fancy and interesting. 

What do they claim to do?
Although no clinical studies have been published, its main function is to remove excess fluid under the eyes. You might see other benefits, like less noticeable lines, better lymphatic drainage and relaxed facial muscles. 

How do you use it? 
If you pop you roller in the freezer for a few minutes prior to rolling it can bestow you with an extra tightening effects. You should use it at least once a day, using a light pressure roll in an  outward direction. The best time to roll is right after you apply your serum, or even better, a facial oil. It helps push in the product into your skin.
