Canadian Living Online's own Sarah Hatten and Jen Melo tried out three long-last mascaras with varied results. Here are their reviews:

Full 'N Soft, Maybelline
Of the three mascaras I tried this one was my favourite. It has a great applicator that separates and enhances the thickness of the lashes well. I was really happy that the mascara felt so light and provided a soft look. As far as durability goes, I was quite happy with the look of my lashes at the end of the day and didn't notice any smudges or smears. I was also relieved to find that washing it off was fairly effortless, considering it was a long-last product. I would recommend this product as excellent for everyday wear! -- Sarah Hatten

I had good results with this mascara. My lashes look longer, fuller and darker, and Maybelline's claim of softer lashes is warranted. My lashes felt softer in comparison to other mascaras I've tried and it was great for day wear when I wanted to achieve a more natural look. As for all-day wear, this one stands up to hours of wear with no smudging or clumping. Eye-makeup remover leaves my lashes clean, with just a bit of mascara residue left behind -- it's nothing a good eye cream won't remove. -- Jen Melo

Colorstay, Revlon
This mascara is a great option for long-lasting results. The applicator creates a more dramatic look, separating and defining the lashes as opposed to making them fuller or thicker. While I didn't notice any smudging or smearing throughout the day, I did find my lashes felt a little dry by the time the evening rolled around. It also wasn't as easy to remove as the Full 'N Soft. All in all, I was still quite happy with the product because, for the most part, it lived up to its long-last claims. -- Sarah Hatten

I love this mascara. It makes my lashes look really long and the brush separates beautifully -- so I don't have to worry about messy clumps. Because it provides just enough length, volume and separation, I rank it among one of my favourites. I was skeptical about the oddly shaped brush at first but it works wonders. I didn't notice any flaking or smudging throughout the day and evening, so the all-day wear claim rings true. When I'm ready to go mascara free, an eye-makeup remover easily wipes away the product. I'm holding on to this mascara, as I would definitely use it again and again. -- Jen Melo

2V Mascara, Red Earth
I found this dual-application mascara to be quite thick and heavy on my lashes, probably because you apply a lash treatment base prior to the actual mascara. In terms of all-day durability, I did have some slight smudging with this product. However, the removal process was pretty easy using proper eye-makeup remover. -- Sarah Hatten

This mascara is a two-step process. You apply a white base coat, then the black colour coat. The end results are nice -- my lashes look longer, darker and thicker. But I don't like the two-step process. Two tubes of mascara take up more room in my makeup bag than one and I don't like clutter. Plus, it takes longer to switch from one tube to another instead of just applying two coats of your favourite one-step mascara. I didn't notice any fabulous results compared to my regular mascara so I don't have any incentive to accept the hassle of changing my mascara regimen. Makeup application should be quick and easy and if I'm going to lengthen the process, the results have to be worthwhile. Like the other two mascaras I tried, this one stays clean all day long with no smudging, clumping or flaking. -- Jen Melo
