Ingredients

  • 1 tsp grated orange rind 1 tsp grated orange rind
  • 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

In large bowl, beat butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light; beat in orange rind and vanilla.

In separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda and sa< beat into butter mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

Form into 10-inch (25 cm) long log. Wrap and refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours.

Slice into 1/3-inch (8 mm) thick rounds. Place, 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart, on parchment paper–lined baking sheets.

Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven until golden and firm, about 12 minutes. Let cool on pans on racks for 5 minutes; transfer to racks and let cool completely.
