Method

In small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

On lightly floured surface, roll out pastry to 10-inch square. Using pastry brush, brush dough with melted butter and sprinkle with reserved cinnamon sugar.

Preheat oven to 425°F. Cut pastry in half, then cut each half crosswise into 12 strips, each about 3/4-inch wide. Starting in the centre, twist each strip into straws about 6 inches long. Place straws side by side on parchment paper-lined baking sheet and refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes. (Make-ahead: Can be wrapped in plastic wrap and frozen for up to 2 weeks.)

Bake on middle rack of oven until straws are crispy and golden, about 12 minutes. Transfer to wire rack; let cool completely.
