Chocolate Fondue Fun

    Strawberries
    Bite-size chunks of banana, kiwifruit and pineapple
    Bite-size cubes of pound cake
    Crispy rice squares
    Chocolate Fondue:
    1 cup (250 mL) milk or semisweet chocolate chips
    2/3 cup (150 mL) whipping cream
    1/2 tsp (2 mL) vanilla

Preparation:

The Equipment

Dry-measure cups
Liquid-measure cup
Small knife to cut fruit
Heatproof bowl
Small saucepan
Whisk
Measuring spoons
Mini slow cooker or fondue pot
Fondue forks or long wooden skewers

The Steps

 Get ready
 Wash hands.
 Measure out ingredients.
 Prepare bite-size chunks for dipping.

Make fondue
Put chocolate chips into medium heatproof bowl.

Pour cream into small saucepan; heat over medium-high heat until hot and steaming but not boiling. Remove from heat.

Carefully pour hot cream over chocolate chips; let stand for 2 minutes.

Add vanilla; whisk until smooth.

Scrape into mini slow cooker or fondue pot. Keep warm on low setting.

Set out dippers
Arrange mounds of fruit, cake and rice squares on platter or serving dishes.

To eat, let each person spear dipper with fondue fork to dip into fondue.
