On many a hot summer day, this cool, refreshing twist on classic lemonade will have both young and old coming back for more.
Ingredients
- 1 each lemon , and/or lime and small orange1 1each lemonlemons, and/or lime and small orange
- 8 cups cold water 8 8cups cupscold water
- 4 cups ice cubes 4 4cups cupsice cubes
- Lemon-Orange Syrup:
- 1-1/4 cups granulated sugar 1-1/4 1-1/4cups cupsgranulated sugar
- 1 cup cold water 1 1cup cupcold water
- 1 tbsp grated lemon rind 1 1tbsp tbspgrated lemon rind
- 1 tbsp grated orange rind 1 1tbsp tbspgrated orange rind
- 1/3 cup lemon juice 1/3 1/3cup cuplemon juice
- 1/4 cup orange juice 1/4 1/4cup cuporange juice
Preparation
Lemon-Orange Syrup: In saucepan, bring granulated sugar, water, lemon and orange rinds and lemon and orange juices to boil; reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Let syrup cool completely. (Make-ahead: Refrigerate in airtight container for up to 2 weeks.)
Meanwhile, scrub lemon, lime and orange well; cut into thin slices.
In large pitcher, stir together cold water, ice cubes and lemon-orange syrup. Stir in sliced fruit.
