Whole rye flour can be purchased in bulk or in the organics section of the supermarket.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/4 cups buttermilk 1-1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp fancy molasses 1 tbsp fancy molasses
  • 1 tsp salt 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp caraway seeds 2 tsp caraway seeds
  • 2-3/4 cups white bread flour 2-3/4 cups white bread flour
  • 1-3/4 cups whole rye flour 1-3/4 cups whole rye flour
  • 2-1/4 tsp bread machine yeast 2-1/4 tsp bread machine yeast

Preparation

Into pan of bread machine, place in order: buttermilk, water, molasses, salt, caraway seeds, white bread flour, rye flour and yeast. Set on Whole Grain setting. Makes 1 loaf, or 12 slices.
