Pot roast sauce makes a flavourful base for this dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg (454 g) ziti tagliati or penne
  • 4 cups shredded Hearty Italian Pot Roast (recipe under method)
  • 2 cups sauce from Hearty Italian Pot Roast (recipe under method)
  • 1 can (796 mL) whole plum tomatoes , drained and coarsely crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning
  • 1 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves (approx)
  • 1/2 cup grated pecorino or Parmesan cheese (approx)

Method

In large saucepan of boiling salted water, cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain; return to saucepan.

Meanwhile, in separate large saucepan, stir together Hearty Italian Pot Roast, pot roast sauce, tomatoes and Italian seasoning over medium heat. Add to pan with pasta; stir in basil and pecorino. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes. Garnish with more basil and pecorino, if desired. Serve warm.
