Varenyky or Sweet Perogy Dough

Makes enough for 36 perogies

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1/3 cup water (approx)

Method

In large bowl, whisk flour with baking powder.

Whisk together egg, milk and butter; stir into flour mixture. Stir in water, 1 tbsp at a time, to form soft dough, adding up to 2 tbsp more if necessary.

Turn out onto lightly floured surface; knead until smooth, about 10 times. Cover with plastic wrap or damp towel; let rest for 20 minutes.
