Ingredients
- 12 oz top sirloin grilling steaks
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 dash hot pepper sauce
- 4 whole wheat kaiser rolls, halved and toasted
Preparation
Cut beef into 1/4-inch (5 mm) thick strips. In large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat; stir-fry beef until browned but still pink inside, about 2 minutes. Transfer to plate.
Drain off any fat in pan. Add onion, mushrooms, salt and pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, until mushroom liquid is evaporated, about 4 minutes.
Add barbecue sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and hot pepper sauce. Return beef and any accumulated juices to pan; toss to coat and heat through. Sandwich in buns.
