Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated onions
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp hot pepper sauce
  • 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano

Preparation

In bowl, beat egg; mix in bread crumbs, onion, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, hot pepper sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Mix in beef. Shape into four 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick patties. Place on foil-lined rimmed baking sheet. Top with tomato slices; sprinkle with thyme and oregano.

Roast in 400°F (200°C) oven until meat thermometer inserted sideways registers 160°F (71°C), about 25 minutes.
