Thankfully, it won't be long before the first spring blossoms start breaking the surface, and among the early risers I'll be keeping an eye out for is the hellebore -- the official flower of this year's Canada Blooms. Scheduled from March 15 to 24 at the Direct Energy Centre (Exhibition Place) in Toronto, Canada Blooms is the perfect opportunity to shake off winter's chill and start planning your patch for the coming summer. As the country's largest flower and garden festival, this year's show features six acres of inspiring gardens, a marketplace showcasing the latest and greatest garden tools and services, and -- most appealing for me, as I desperately need a diversion from these gloomy grey skies -- lots and lots of brilliantly-coloured blossoms! What's more, a ticket to Canada Blooms (normally $20, but you can snag an early-bird ticket for just $17 with the online special offered here!) also gets you access to the National Home Show, as the two events are being hosted side-by-side. (Talk about bang for your buck!) I wonder what outdoor colour trends will emerge at this year's Canada Blooms?
