Special abbreviation

dtr = double treble:
[Yoh] 3 times, draw loop through next st, [yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook] 4 times. (Brush up on all the other, standard abbreviations in the pattern at patonsyarns.com/abbreviations)

You need:
• 3 balls of Patons Grace (50 g) pure cotton yarn, Natural
• 4 mm crochet hook OR whichever size you require to obtain the tension given below

Tension:
20 dc and 8 rows = 10 cm (4 ins). Work to exact tension with specified yarn to obtain satisfactory results. TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK TENSION.

To make:
Base

Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), sl st to first ch to join in ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 15 dc in ring, sl st in top of ch 3. 16 dc in rnd.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in same sp as last sl st, [2 dc in next dc] to end of rnd, sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, [2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc] to last dc, 2 dc in last dc, sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in next dc, [2 dc in next dc, 1 dc each in next 2 dc] to last dc, 2 dc in last dc, sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, 1 dc each in next 2 dc, [2 dc in next dc, 1 dc each in next 3 dc] to last dc, 2 dc in last dc, sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, 1 dc each in next 3 dc, [2 dc in next dc, 1 dc each in next 4 dc] to last dc, 2 dc in last dc, sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 7: Ch 3, 1 dc each in next 4 dc, [2 dc in next dc, 1 dc each in next 5 dc] to last dc, 2 dc in last dc, sl st in top of ch 3.

[2 dc in next dc, 1 dc each in next 6 dc] to last dc, 2 dc in last dc, sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 9: Ch 3, 1 dc each in next 6 dc,
[2 dc in next dc, 1 dc each in next 7 dc] to last dc, 2 dc in last dc, sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 10: Ch 3, 1 dc in each dc to end of rnd, sl st to top of ch 3. 144 dc now in rnd.

Mesh
Rnd 11:
Ch 1, 1 sc in same sp as last sl st, [ch 9, skip next 3 dc, 1 sc in next dc] (arch made) to last 3 dc, ch 4, skip next 3 dc, 1 dtr in sc. 36 arches now in rnd.
Rnd 12: [Ch 9, 1 sc in next ch-9 sp] to last arch, ch 4, 1 dtr in top of dtr.
Next: Rep last rnd 14 times more.

Edging and Handles
