Cycling Through Shakespeare's England

By: Doug O'Neill

To bike, or not to bike, that is the question I just returned from a trip to England during which I spent a good chunk of the time on a bicycle. Touring Shakespeare country (starting in Stratford-upon-Avon), rolling through the Cotswolds, over-nighting in Oxfordshire and eventually skirting around Windsor Castle on the way into London, ranks as one of my best active-meets-cultural trips I've ever experienced. I'll be writing a lot more about this cycling trip in England but in the meantime, here are some images to inspire you.   Cycling through Cotswolds Cycling through England Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon Anne Hathaway's cottage, Stratford-upon-Avon Cycling through Oxford Cycling through the Chilterns Cycling through Windsor, England If you're keen to plan a cycling trip in England, I highly recommend The Carter Company (friendly staff, seasoned cyclists, witty travel mates). For engaging itineraries in England, check out www.visitengland.com. So yes, to bike or not to bike? Of course, hop on a bike. (And stay tuned for details on my visit to a proper bicycle shop where I fell in love with a bright yellow beauty I wanted to take home with me!)
