Is it love – or is it just a cute ad from a running shoe company?

The other day, my colleague Amy sent me the cutest-ever video. She’s training for a half-marathon and was looking at a pair of Nike running shoes, and she saw the ad and fell in love with it – and wants the runners.

I’m not a runner, but really, who cares about that (I can walk quickly.) Then Amy sent me the link and I fell for it, too. It’s so sweet, it’s about a young couple in love running across the country to each other. And it’s funny, too. And the song, it's adorable. It’s on a loop in my head, I can’t stop hearing it. And I don’t want to. It’s like a little rom-com ad. :)

In any case, I was enjoying a little moment of inspiration. Then I made the mistake of scrolling down to read some of the YouTube comments. And whoa. What I love the most about people who comment? They always give me a different perspective. One talks about a quota in media forcing broadcasters to come up with a “woman-related” feed. Hrmmm. Another says that the woman in the video looks so strong that if she ever got in a fight with another woman, she’d probably pull her hair out by the roots. Ouch! And in an ongoing dialogue, a guy and some other people get into a fight about feminism. Yes, it’s true. So here’s what I think. Maybe I am being had by a big running shoe company. Maybe I like the colour pink. Maybe I like love, and anything this sweet that brightens up my day. Maybe I'm so superficial that I don’t get the arguments. But here it is, this is how I feel in all honesty. We can’t help loving some things just for their face value. What about you? Do you like the video? Do you think it is lovely? Or not?
