On Tuesday, January 24 Meryl Streep became the actor with the most academy award nominations ever, with 20. Which wasn't that much of a change, since she also held the previous record. Overrated? The academy certainly doesn't think so. And neither do fans, some of which have been following her career since The Deerhunter and some of which who were introduced to Streep in The Devil Wears Prada (both of which earned her nominations, by the way).
In honour of Streep's record-breaking year, we take a look back at some of her biggest career moments—and of course chart her style along the way.
Meryl Streep was nominated for the first time in 1979 for her role in The Deerhunter. Here she is in a classic lace outfit with sporting a killer blowout.
Streep won the Oscar for her role in Sophie's Choice in 1982. She wore a glitzy and roomy (she was pregnant at the time) gown to collect her award.
Here, Meryl Streep debuted a shorter 'do in 1983. We also love the sheer detail of her white ensemble.
In 1989 Streep stepped into the off-the-shoulder trend on the red carpet. She was nominated for her role in A Cry in the Dark.
In 2004 Streep won an Emmy for her role in Angels in America. She wore another off-the-shoulder look, will a full skirt and sash for a belt.
In 2005, Streep donned this white Valentino ensemble to Fashion Group International's Night of Stars. Later, Valentino himself would make an appearance in The Devil Wears Prada.
For an event with the Christopher Reeve Foundation in 2005, Streep wore a classic black suit and accessorized in great green earrings.
For the 2009 Academy Awards, where she was nominated for her role in Doubt, Streep wore this silky dress by Alberto Ferretti.
For her role in Julie & Julia, Streep won the Golden Globe. She wore a simple black dress by Chris March and accessorized with a strong red lip—perfect!
Meryl wowed the crowd (and matched her Oscar statuette) at the 2012 Academy Awards. She won for her role in The Iron Lady, and wore this stunning dress by Lanvin.
We're not used to seeing Meryl this dressed down, but this great MaxMara dress was a nice, light pick for the Oscar winner.
For the premiere of Suffragette in 2015, Streep wore an electric blue Lanvin gown.

Ginger may not be the first spice you think of to incorporate in your snacks, salads and dinners but it's one of the healthiest on the planet! Here's why:
1. It's healthy for your heart.
Research has shown that ginger may lower cholesterol and help prevent blood clotting, which could, in turn, help prevent blood vessel blockages that can lead to heart attacks or strokes.
A recent study out of Pennsylvania State University found that a meal made with a spice blend that included ginger (along with garlic, rosemary, oregano, cinnamon, cloves, paprika, turmeric and black pepper) reduced levels of triglycerides by 30 percent when compared to an identical non-spiced meal.
2. It helps your tummy!
Ginger has long been associated with relieving nausea and morning sickness, motion sickness, and even menstrual pain, as it's original use was for pain relief. A 2012 study shored up that wisdom, showing that ginger can reduce nausea after chemotherapy when taken as a supplement.
3. It can help you breathe easy.
Ginger tea is a classic remedy purported to ease cough and cold symptoms. And it turns out, there’s some science to its soothing powers when you’re sick. In 2013, research out of Columbia University found that ginger might help asthma patients breathe more easily.
4. It has anti-inflammatory effects.
Osteoarthritis causes joint pain and stiffness, but the anti-inflammatory effects of ginger can help that. In a trial done by the National Centre for Biotechnology Information, participants who took ginger extract had less pain and needed less pain medication than those who didn't.
*Although rare, too much ginger can cause heartburn, diarrhea and irritation of the mouth, according to the University of Maryland. There can also be interactions with medications, such as acetylsalicylic acid.
