Travel Talk: Victoria's Secrets

Victoria's Secrets Who doesn't leap at the chance of a fall getaway, especially if it's affordable? A good wallet-friendly travel bet right now: Victoria, British Columbia.  And, depending where you live in Canada, you just might land a great air deal, as well. I recently spotted a few excellent flight discounts on WestJet. There's lots to love about Victoria. The foodie scene continues to garner rave views, the Asian cultural influence surfaces everywhere, and local galleries showcase some of the finest West Coast. Victoria is also a great city to base yourself for hikes and other outdoor adventure. The Greater Victoria area boasts more than 60 provincial, regional and municipal parks, which enables you to marry an urban holiday (comfy beds and a spa treatment) with some nature-friendly day excursions. Their crews host a variety of guided hikes throughout the region, including one which follows the East Sooke Park coastal trail, a ten kilometre trek that promises glimpses of ancient petroglyph etchings.  More serious hiker friends will will embrace the challenge of the 47 km stretch of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail. Friends completed it during a long weekend visit to Victoria last fall and intend to do it again this year.   Half-day guided hikes cost $95 and full-day hikes cost $125. Rainforest staff will pick up at your hotel and drop you off at the end of the day, serve up a gourmet lunch, and lend you a backpack to carry your water bottle, munchies and spare rain jacket. There are some really great deals right now for Victoria, British Columbia. Here's a sampling: 1.
