Developed by up-and-coming Canadian chef Gordon Bailey for Sugar Moon Farm, this dessert will more than satisfy any sweet tooth. Cooking the pecans in maple syrup and brown sugar infuses them with flavour and makes it impossible to eat just one.
Gooey sticky buns are perfect for a crowd on a cosy holiday morning. These may sound like they'd be over-the-top sweet, but they're well balanced. The earthy pumpkin – in both the dough and the filling – reins in all that brown sugar goodness.
Demerara sugar is less refined than regular sugar, so it gives these cookies a rich, creamy, molasses-like flavour with large grains that remain crunchy after cooking. Look for a dark Demerara-style sugar (such as Mr. Goudas, Lantic or Redpath) with other brown sugars in the baking aisle.
This in one of my favourite "go to" recipes when I'm done in by shopping, gardening or if I just don't want to cook that night. It's fast, tasty, and filling! Substituting with Splenda brown sugar makes this very appealing to diabetics or those watching their waist-lines.

My inspiration for this recipe was from my two year old son who just happens to love butternut squash. Too often as Canadians we make it one way-with brown sugar and butter. I figured it was one of the first foods that the indians introduced to the settlers. what could be more Canadian?
