How To Dermaplane For A Brighter Complexion
Your smoothest skin yet is within reach!
Here’s the thing—peach fuzz and texture on your face is a simple fact of life. But whether you’re looking for a smoother makeup application or another method of exfoliation, dermaplaning is a great option to give you a glowy complexion.
Originally designed as an in-office dermatological form of exfoliation, dermaplaning uses a blade to gently remove the top layers of the skin. A professional might use a surgical scalpel, while most at-home versions look like an angled single-blade razor.
This exfoliation method removes dead skin cells and hair, leaving you with a more radiant and silky complexion. Dermaplaning is safe for most skin types, though dermatologists often suggest that those with active eczema or sensitive skin avoid it.
Here’s how to do it at home.
How to dermaplane
Step 1: Prep
To prep your skin for exfoliation, wash your face with a cleansing face wash designed to remove dirt and oils.
Step 2: Dermaplane
Pull your facial skin taut and hold the dermaplane razor at a 45-degree angle. Use short, light strokes with the razor as you gently shave your skin. Wipe the razor down sporadically on a cloth or paper towel to get rid of build-up.
Step 3: Hydrate
After you’ve dermaplaned (exfoliated) your face, it’s a good idea to rehydrate it. Use a lightweight moisturizer or serum. Your skin may be extra sensitive or feel irritated afterwards, so go for a fragrance-free or gentle option.
