The Easiest Way To Cut A Mango (Step-By-Step)
Use these simple tips to cut your next mango faster (and waste less fruit!).
A staple in sorbets, smoothies, and salads, mangoes are a tropical fruit crowd favourite. Their oval shape and sneaky pit can make them hard to cut, leaving you with a desiccated fruit that still has plenty of juicy bites hanging onto the peel.
Here’s the best way to cut a mango.
1. Find the stem
The stem is located at the tallest point of the mango, typically with a small brown circle. The top of the stem is where you can find the pit of the mango.
2. Slice the sides
Once you’ve located the pit, simply slice off the sides of the mango. We suggest leaving a bit of a fruit border to avoid cutting the pit.
3. Cut into grids

Once you’ve got your mango pieces, gently cut a grid pattern into the flesh (similar to an avocado). Be careful not to pierce the peel.
4. Slice off the mango chunks
Flip your mango halves inside out, pushing the cubed fruit to the front. Use a paring knife or spoon to scoop out the chunks.
5. Scoop and cut out the rest
At this point, there may still be some fruit hanging onto the peel and pit. Use your knife to gently scrape it out. Enjoy!
