The Best And Worst Foods To Eat After Indigestion
Bloating, cramps, nausea...you can sense when food isn't sitting right in your gut.
After experiencing indigestion, it's understandable to be nervous about indulging in your next meal. However, certain foods can actually help your stomach settle.
Here are the foods to reach for and the ones to avoid after an upset stomach.
The best foods to eat after indigestion
Most vegetables, including cooked carrots, are a good idea after experiencing an upset stomach. Choose one that doesn't contain too much fibre—like broccoli—since that can irritate your gut further.
Blend pureed carrots with apple or pear for a sweet snack. You can also cook them into small cubes and add them to a serving of rice with lean meat or fish, without little added sauce or spice.
What foods to avoid after indigestion
Soups in a packet! Yes, traditional chicken noodle soup is comforting, but store-bought soup is high in sodium and contains potentially irritating additives. Your best bet is to make a homemade, lightly-salted clear broth or eat a light soup.
It's always a good idea to keep a few dishes like this stockpiled in your freezer. Otherwise, pick up healthy store-bought soup or add more water to make it less concentrated.

2. Slowly but surely
Avoiding food is not recommended and may even delay healing. Eat as much as you can tolerate.
