Lashing Out

For my esthetic, nothing is more appealing than a garment that’s simple and classic in nature but has something either unexpected or humorous about it. This shirt has all three. At first glance, it looks like a simple poplin collar button down, but in the back it’s an open wrap-over, while the collar has adorable lashes fluttering on the collar—love at first sight! - Julia McEwen

Easy dressing

Horizontal stripes, midi dresses and strappy backs are all having a major moment this spring and summer. Consider this dress the best of all worlds. - Alexandra Donaldson

Strappy dress with lace-up back, $50, zara.com.

Summer sandal

When the warm weather hits I pretty much live in two shoe options: Comfy sneakers or flat sandals. This season, you’ve no shortage of sandal options—slides, wedges and kitten heels are all popular. But you’ll find me with a subtly sexy strappy option—they’re the perfect way to dress up boyfriend jeans with that lacing, or dress down a maxi dress with that flat heel.  - AD

Afauma strappy sandal, $50, callitspring.com.

You Are What You Eat

Totally new on the scene is Aveeno’s Body Yogurt that comes in two scents: Vanilla & Oat and Apricot & Honey. At its core, this new range uses the brand’s iconic skin-soothing colloidal oatmeal (a godsend for dry and sensitive skin) and live culture found in yogurt (such as lipids, lactic acid and lactose), which is freeze-dried in order for it to be stable in the formula.  - JM

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Yogurt Lotion Apricot & Honey, $8,  aveeno.com

Shine bright

Whether I’m rocking a full face of makeup or the bare minimum (lip gloss and concealer), I will always finish my look with a couple swipes of highlighter. My pick is Heaven’s Hue by Stila. There are three shades, ranging from a light pink to a golden bronze. I’m in love with this highlighter because it leaves a slight shimmer without being over-the-top.  - Kaysey Davis

Stila Heaven’s Hue Highlighter, $42, sephora.com.

Eye spy

I’m always on the hunt for a great eye treatment. Combine that with always wanting to learn about the latest and greatest skin-care ingredients and you’ll understand why I want this next item. This eye gel includes peptides (great for building collagen), but also squalane, an oil that occurs naturally in the body and is a moisturizing powerhouse that helps to restore balance. Plus it’s non-irritating! Perfect for that sensitive eye area. - AD

Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel, $68, sephora.com.

Slip(pper) and Slide

So long snow boots and hello spring footwear.  If you let your footwear be an afterthought it can sabotage a solid outfit. I firmly believe that sometimes an outfit should be built from the ground up. This season, sliders and mules are huge, but what even bigger is the slipper trend. I’m obsessing over these sleek v-cut slides from Zara, they’re super simple yet extremely impactful.  - JM

V-cut leather slides, $60, zara.com.

Cold shoulder

Inspired by the classic bare shoulder Bardot top, the off-the-shoulder look is one of this year’s biggest trends. From bell-sleeved peasant tops to short, ruffled frocks, there are a dozen ways to incorporate this look into your wardrobe. This off-the-shoulder dress has adorable tassels at the sleeves, creating a more fun and festive look. With warm weather approaching, why not bare it all? - KD

ASOS Off Shoulder Dress, $43, asos.com.

Au natural

I’m still not over my wicker bag love from last month—although this time I’m on the hunt for a great, small crossbody style. The perfect place to look for a retro style pick like this? Etsy of course! This one, from Mexican shop La Paso Bien, is handmade to order and features a cute linen lining and a tassel for decoration. - AD

La Paso Bien straw handbag with leather strap, $60, etsy.com/lapasobien.

Just like honey

The Body Shop’s Almond Milk and Honey line came to Canada earlier this year and I’m obsessed. The entire line is made especially for people with sensitive skin. My favourite product is the body butter. It’s light, fresh, and moisturizing without being over-scented or greasy. It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth and will definitely my spring go-to.  - KD

Almond Milk & Honey Body Butter, $21, thebodyshop.com.

Barely there

Everything relaxes a bit in the summer—including my undergarments. I tend to stick with bralettes (a perk—no pun intended—for us small-busted gals) and I’ll be stocking my unmentionables drawer with these colourful and pretty picks from American Eagle. - AD

Aerie Longline Racerback Bralette, $37, ae.com.

Glower-Getter

’Tis the season to expose our pale and parched skin to the world after being covered up for the last 6 months. A necessary reality, but if there’s a product that can make the transition a little easier I’m all over it. I’m happy to report Charlotte Tilbury launched her Overnight Bronze & Glow Mask just in time. After one use, this all natural (streak free) mask gives you a sun-kissed glow (on your face, neck and décolletage) while you catch your beauty sleep. - JM

Charlotte Tilbury Overnight Bronze & Glow Mask, $65, charlottetilbury.com.

Pointed

Lace-up ballet flats were a hit last year and they’re back in all-new colours and prints. Instead of just plain black, these lace-ups come in a light blue colour and have beautiful laser cut detailing. You can dress them up with a skirt or dress them down with a pair of shorts and a tee. Either way, they’re the perfect spring shoes.  - KD

Laser cut ballerina flats, $75, longtallsally.com.

Sweat shirt

Since I’ve started to up my workout game (make sure to follow Canadian Living on Instagram and Facebook to follow along on the team’s fitness journey), I’ve needed to pick up a couple extra exercise pieces. This inexpensive tank top will keep me cool and stylish at the gym. - AD
