I usually put this in a large casserole dish that can go from fridge to oven for a few days because the kids constantly reheat and eat this until it is gone.
This casserole has few ingredients and is easy to prepare. Other short pastas, such as penne and fusilli, can replace the macaroni. For a crisp topping, broil during the last 2 to 3 minutes of cooking time. Serve with a side salad.
My mother in law made a version of this dish but I made some changes since she did not cook with spices and used hamburger. It's easy to make and freezes well. I serve it with a salad and garlic bread. Enjoy!
Great quick meal...kids will love it. Goes well with a salad or veggies and dip.
My mom first learned to make this dish 60+ years ago in the 4H club. We often had it when we were kids and now my son loves it too. Quick and easy to make with only a few basic ingredients, this is a favorite on busy nights.
While you wait for the water to come to a boil, chop, dice and slice and you will be ready to assemble as soon as the pasta is cooked.
This layered casserole is a snap to put together for a youngster who's able to handle the stove. If there are any leftovers, you can pack them in a container to reheat for lunch the next day.
The classic accompaniment to those summer backyard BBQ feasts. This recipe makes a great base for adding your own personal flair.
